Candy, cups,STD/STI's information sheet |
Have several types of candy each representing a different STD/STI. Have one candy represent unwanted pregancy and another for abstaining. Place candies in cup and give out the residents. Ask residents to mingle with one another sharing candy if they desired. After ten mins have everyone take out their candies and look at the variety they have. Read off the different STD/STI's they may have contracted. |

mini flower pots, soil, seeds, paint, paintbrushes |
This is a great program to cover the health problems caused by smoking Pot. I purchased the smallest flower pots. Residents were able to be creative and paint the pots. Then they could plant a small flower once the paint dried. We talked about the effects of pot. This was a lot of fun and a huge success! |
Would You Rather... (Social)

quesstion preparation, snacks |
I found several questions like do you like cats or dogs better, have you been outside of the country, would you rather live at the beach or in the mountains, etc. that I asked at my first program. It was a great way to meet the residents and find commonalities. Each resident was given the option to answer and several even shared short stories. |

Life Size Clue (Social)

Dice, game cards, walkie talkies are nice. |
Clue with a college spin and on the life size scale. Use the RA's as the pawns (instead of Mr. Green, etc. use the RA's). Pick murder weapons that can found on campus. Use a campus building as the 'mansion'. It takes a little more time to plan out, but the jist is you customize it to your campus. Make groups of 3 to 6 people to be paired with an RA 'pawn', and play just like the game but bigger. |

S.E.P.I.A - 3 years and running strong another RA and I have been running sepia, SPOKEN EXPRESSIONS PROVIDED in an INTIMATE ATMOSPHERE. simply put its an open mic for poets, musicians, testimonials or any other form of free expression. very good atmosphere, replace the light bulbs with green, red and blue lightbulbs to add a coffee house feel, light snacks like finger foods and juices. A very nice event for students to get out and express their intellect and artistic creativity. |
